Diabetic Friendly Foods

Guys, in this new blog post I’d like to share with you some food options that I have found to be low sugar and diabetic friendly. These foods can be purchased in any local supermarket or online. I personally have tried all of them and these are just some of many options available.

Honestly, there are many options nowadays and we just need to look for what’s available since these are great for us diabetics. Even if you are not diabetic these are great alternatives to regular products which could be full of added sugars and many other ingredients. This list includes breakfast options and snacks. I am including the brand names as well.

Something very important that I like to clarify is that the fact that these are available doesn’t mean that I eat them all the time or have to buy all of them. I only buy some of these when I’m craving for example ice cream or some chocolate chip cookies. The reason is because when you buy them and keep them at home it is easier to eat them and just overeat. As you might be aware this could lead to weight gain and just extra calories. Remember that balance is key when it comes to eating and maintaining a healthy weight depending on your own specific goals and needs.

Also, we need to be aware of portions and serving size. These foods could be healthier options but the fact that they are keto, low sugar or low carb doesn’t mean they don’t have other ingredients and could be high in calories. Some of them are high in fat so it is very important to measure and be mindful of how much we eat. Always check the nutrition labels for calories per serving.

Below I’m sharing the list starting with breakfast options and then snacks.

These are just a few of the products that these brands make. If you go on their websites they have many different products that are low sugar, low carb and keto friendly. They could be a little more expensive but they are worth the price since our goal here is to avoid foods that will raise our blood sugars.

Some of those products include: burger buns, hot dog buns, bagels, granola, protein bars and many more. Feel free to look online and find the best foods for you.

I hope this list will help you guys and remember to always check for amount of calories and nutrition facts.

  1. I love Skinny Pop, they’re healthy and low in carbs. They make for a great snack. Before I was diagnosed with T1D I could body a whole large bag of doritos no problem. Now that I have to watch how many carbs I eat it was disappointing to learn one serving size of doritos was only 12 crappy chips. With skinny pop I can have a whole bowl and that’s still 4 carbs less than Doritos.

    1. yes sir, this is a great alternative. i try to eat these only when im craving it and of course i try to keep in mind portion control. have you tried any of the other products? the catalina crunch cereal is really good too.
